History of our SocietyOn May, 14, 1970 session of organizing committee of the constituent assembly of Tbilisi Scientific Society of Endocrinologists (Chairman V.Lekishvili) has taken place.On May, 20, 1970 the constituent assembly of Tbilisi Scientific Society of Endocrinologists (Chairman V.Lekishvili) has taken place. There were 98 persons. At the same day session of recently elected board has taken place. Presidium of Society board and auditing commission has been elected - Prof. V. Lekishvili (Chairman), Prof. K. Virsaladze (Vice-Chairman), Prof. J. Tsitsishvili (Vice-Chairman), MD G.Vadachkoria (Vice-Chairman), MD I.Andguladze (Secretary), Dr. E.Jinoria (Paymaster). On October, 1970 the first session of society has taken place. On June, 29, 1979 the meeting of Tbilisi scientific society of endocrinologists took decision about the reorganization of society into Georgian Scientific Society of Endocrinologists. On May, 29, 1990 the last session of Georgian Scientific Society of Endocrinologists has taken place under the chairmanship of Prof. V. Iverieli. On 1991, after dissolution of USSR Georgia became independent and passed through many cataclysms. On April, 14, 2000 the session constituent assembly of the Society of Georgian Endocrinologists has taken place. It passed the Society Statute, determined strategic activities, named after ac. Vazha Iverieli to the society and elected new board. At the same day the board elected the Chairman – Prof. D.Virsaladze; 4 Deputy Chairman – Prof. D.Metreveli, Prof. R.Kurashvili, Prof. A.Khomasuridze, MD Z.Sekhniashvili; Executive Secretary – MD K.Koplatadze. On September 5, 2005; ECE 7th Congress; V.Iverieli Society of Georgian Endocrinologists was affiliated in European Society of Endocrinology as a full member. |
Vaja Iverieli(1925-1999)Well-known georgian endocrinologist, Scientist. He funded georgian school of clinical endocrinology and first department of Clinical Endocrinology in Georgia.
